DALLAS (AP) - Dallas police say a suspect was shot dead in a struggle with an officer investigating a reported robbery at a suspected drug house near Fair Park.

The incident happened about 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Police Chief David Brown says officers were trying to arrest the man when a struggle ensued. When the man broke for his car, two officers used a stun gun on him. However, the man pulled the prongs from his body both times and continued to flee.

Brown says the man continued to struggle with police as he tried to get into a car. Eventually, the officer struggling with the man fired his gun several times, killing the man.

Brown says the man had a box cutter, but he didn’t say if he wielded it as a weapon.
