HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - Officials say a fire broke out in a decommissioned cooling tower at the Volvo Group Trucks plant in western Maryland, but was quickly contained.
The Herald-Mail reports (https://bit.ly/1EkXI5U) that a Washington County Emergency Services official says fire crews rushed to the plant north of Hagerstown around 9 a.m. Thursday. Smoke could be seen from miles away.
Volvo spokeswoman Belinda Vinson says it took firefighters about 20 minutes to control the blaze at the structure being demolished outside the main plant. Vinson says demolition workers were using torches to cut parts of the tower when plastic materials caught fire. She says there was no property damage and no injuries.
