WOOSTER, Ohio (AP) - House lawmakers have gathered information exploring the future of agricultural education in Ohio.

The Ohio House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee heard testimony in Wooster Wednesday at the Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute.

Organizations appearing before the committee included Ohio State, Wilmington College, Anthony Wayne High School, the Ohio Soybean Council, and the Ohio Ecological and Farm Association.

The committee, which is holding a series of summer hearings around Ohio on modern-day agriculture, plans a report on its findings and recommendations to guide possible legislative changes.

The next hearing is Sept. 1 in Salem in northeastern Ohio. The committee’s chair is Rep. Brian Hill, a Zanesville Republican.
