MALDEN, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts mother has been charged with providing alcohol to teens at an event in which a woman was allegedly raped.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office on Wednesday announced the charges against 37-year-old Stephanie Joy Malloy of Somerville.

Malloy pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge at her arraignment.

The Boston Globe reports (https://bit.ly/1JnSN2Z ) prosecutors say about 40 young people were drinking at Malloy’s apartment in Everett in March during a party hosted by her 19-year-old son. Police said Malloy told them she allowed the party to take place.

Prosecutors say an 18-year-old woman was found unconscious the next day with a body temperature of 77 degrees. She was treated for hypothermia.

Nineteen-year-old Sami Sherif of Everett has been charged with allegedly raping her. His lawyer declined to comment.
