INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An off-duty Indianapolis police officer has been arrested on domestic battery allegations.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said Johnn Scott was taken into custody around 4 a.m. Wednesday on preliminary strangulation, domestic battery and battery charges.

Marion County prosecutors are expected to review the case for a final charging decision. Scott has been suspended.

The Indianapolis Star reports (https://indy.st/1EYH331 ) the 14-year department veteran has been suspended before.

In 2003 as a Marion County sheriff’s deputy he faced criminal trespass after being caught on videotape allegedly breaking into a movie theater office. He was suspended with pay and had to surrender his weapon and badge. He was found not guilty in a bench trial.

It was immediately unclear if Scott has an attorney. A listed phone number for him couldn’t immediately be located.
