DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say two people have been charged in connection with a shooting that killed one woman and injured another in Durham County.

The sheriff’s department tells multiple media outlets that 23-year-old Quashaun Niajel Slade turned himself into authorities on Wednesday.

Slade faces several charges, including first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Dymond Patrice Fowler.

Authorities say Fowler was found shot to death in a ditch on Monday night. Police say 17-year-old Alexis Patterson, who was also shot, pretended to be dead until the attacker left. She then ran to get help.

Police say 19-year-old Alezai Clay was also arrested. Clay is charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping and two counts of felony conspiracy.

It is not immediately clear if Slade and Clay have attorneys.

The investigation is ongoing.
