NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (AP) - A mother and grandmother who fled Massachusetts with their 7-year-old girl after their house was condemned have been found in New York City.

Massachusetts State Police say 32-year-old Kristen Paquette and 54-year-old Debra Paquette, along with Kristen Paquette’s daughter, were located Wednesday night in the Bronx, where they were staying with someone they knew.

They were scheduled to be arraigned on fugitive charges Thursday.

Arrest warrants were issued for the women after they failed to show up in court for arraignment on child endangerment charges Tuesday. They were charged after the child was found living in what authorities described as a squalid, trash-strewn home in Newburyport.

The girl, who appeared safe and healthy, was taken into state protection Wednesday.

It’s not clear if the women have lawyers.
