NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Authorities say a 37-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the stabbing death of her cousin in New Orleans.
New Orleans police tell local media that Shamira Menendez was arrested Tuesday after officers responded to a call of man bleeding on the porch of a home in the city’s Desire neighborhood. She is charged with second-degree murder.
The victim, Menendez’s 38-year-old cousin Derrick Green, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police say Menendez, the victim and the victim’s family members had been sitting on the porch. Police say Menendez and the man were left alone after those family members went inside to sleep, with Menendez later running into the house to say the man had been stabbed.
It is not clear if Menendez has an attorney.
