SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) - The California Highway Patrol has seized 225 pounds of marijuana from an Oakland man who was pulled over on Highway 101.

The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/1JxUk3z ) 31-year-old Brett Lee Wilson was stopped in Cloverdale Tuesday after a CHP officer saw him speeding.

Officer Jon Sloat says the officer detected a marijuana odor in the man’s Suburu Legacy. The driver told the officer the smell could’ve came from a marijuana joint.

But when another officer arrived with a drug detection dog, several packages of pot were found inside the vehicle’s trunk.

Wilson was arrested, and he bailed out of Sonoma County Jail Wednesday.

Sloat says the 225-pound seizure was one of the largest single pot seizures made by the CHP on the north coast in recent years.
