IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - The University of Iowa says an administrator at Tulane University is the second finalist being considered to become president of the school.

The UI announced Thursday that Michael Bernstein, senior vice president for academic affairs at the private New Orleans university, was among four finalists and would visit the Iowa City campus Friday.

Earlier, the university announced Marvin Krislov, president of Oberlin College in Ohio, was a finalist.

Two other finalists will be named soon, and the Iowa Board of Regents is expected to choose a successor for retired president Sally Mason next week.

Bernstein has a doctorate in economics from Yale University, where he also received masters and bachelor’s degrees.

He has held his current position since 2007 and for 20 years worked at the University of California-San Diego.
