ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Police say a bicyclist has succumbed to his injuries stemming from a collision with a vehicle at an Albuquerque intersection.

Albuquerque police spokesman Tanner Tixier says the bicyclist was hit around 5:20 a.m. Thursday and died several hours later.

Tixier says the cyclist was crossing the street against a “do not cross” signal at Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue near Broadway Boulevard.

A driver heading eastbound on Martin Luther King had the green light when his vehicle struck the cyclist.

The cyclist was thrown from his bicycle and suffered life-threatening injuries.

His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Police do not believe speed or alcohol were factors in the collision.
