COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Ohio Supreme Court has blocked a mother’s efforts to inspect children’s services agency records regarding an abuse investigation focusing on her daughter.

The court decision issued Thursday says the woman didn’t show good cause to override the confidentiality policy of Franklin County Children’s Services, which had investigated the suspected abuse of her daughter.

The agency denied the woman’s request to turn over files on the investigation, and she filed a complaint with the Ohio Supreme Court on July 3, 2014.

The woman noted that the agency had found the abuse report to be unsubstantiated, but she later was told the conclusion was changed to “indicative of abuse.” She wanted to find out why.

The court said the agency had no clear legal duty to provide records.
