RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Crews are demolishing an old Rapid City power plant.

KOTA television reports (https://bit.ly/1EntAqq ) that crews have been pulling down the Ben French Power Plant on Deadwood Avenue. The plant produced power for the Rapid City area for more than 50 years.

Black Hills Power decommissioned the 25-megawatt coal-powered facility in 2012 to make way for a more efficient system.

The effort to remove the plant started in July.
