DENVER (AP) - Denver police have ticketed the driver of a semitrailer suspected of striking the bottom of three bridges over Interstate 25.

Police say 51-year-old Michael Stollsteimer continued driving after hitting the bridges Thursday afternoon, causing traffic delays on the highway. The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/OENHfF ) that police cited Stollsteimer with two counts of careless driving.

A police report says the load Stollsteimer was hauling on his trailer was too high. Authorities spent hours searching for the trailer before finding it Thursday night at a Commerce City parking lot.

Transportation officials temporarily closed three lanes of Interstate 25 shortly after the damage.

Authorities say the trailer struck the bottom of bridges on 23rd Avenue and Speer Boulevard, and 20th Street and 84th Avenue. Bridge inspectors say the structures are safe.
