JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Former Arkansas State hurdler Sharika Nelvis finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing after stumbling over the final hurdle.

Nelvis qualified for Friday’s finals after finishing second in the semifinal earlier Friday with a time of 12.56. She ran the final in 13.01.

Nelvis was an All-American at ASU and was national champion in both the indoor 60-meter hurdles and the outdoor 100-meter hurdles. She was the 2014 Honda Sports Award winning for women’s track and field and graduated from ASU in 2014.
