WARRENSBURG, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a massive fire has destroyed two buildings at an Adirondack company that makes animal bedding and cat litter.

Warrensburg Volunteer Fire Company Chief Justin Hull says Friday that the blaze was reported around 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Nepco’s operations in Warrensburg, 60 miles north of Albany.

Hull says the fire destroyed two approximately 100-foot-by-40-foot buildings containing a large amount of wood products. He says firefighters didn’t leave the scene until 4:30 a.m. Friday. Hull says they were able to keep the flames from spreading to three lumber-related businesses next door.

Workers were inside the buildings but Hull says none was injured.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Nepco’s website says it makes eco-friendly, wood fiber-based animal bedding and litter. Company officials couldn’t be reached for comment.
