MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - A Gold Hill couple accused of tying up an 11-year-old boy with rope and beating the child has been found guilty of assault and criminal mistreatment.
The Mail Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1EmNqlR ) the boy’s stepmother, 35-year-old Angela Marie Millard, and his biological father, 38-year-old Lawrence James Millard, were found guilty Thursday.
The boy, now 12, testified Wednesday that his stepmother burned his hands with hot water and hit him with a hairbrush. He said both his parents had tied him up with a rope, and his father beat him with a wooden table leg.
Prosecutors said Angela Millard hit the boy so hard with the hairbrush that she knocked his teeth out and left a scar near his eye.
The Millards didn’t testify at trial. Their sentencing is scheduled for Tuesday.
