JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Supreme Court on Thursday let stand the conviction of a Greenville man for domestic aggravated assault stemming from a 2012 incident involving his girlfriend.

Trevor Hoskins was sentenced in Washington County in 2013 to 20 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Hoskins attacked his girlfriend in their home. Prosecutors say the woman was stabbed, beaten and her throat was cut. The woman survived and testified at Hoskins’ trial.

Hoskins had argued the trial judge erred in letting prosecutors present the jury with 11 photos of the woman’s injuries. Hoskins argued the photos turned the jury against him.

Prosecutors say the photos showed the woman’s injuries were severe and that a deadly weapon was used in the attack.

The state Court of Appeals upheld Hoskins’ conviction in January.
