HOUMA, La. (AP) - A 25-year-old Houma man accused of killing a 40-year-old man in his trailer home will get a new trial later this year after a jury could not reach a verdict in his second-degree murder case.

The Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1i703aN) Jerome Jones is charged in the fatal shooting of Ron Pierre in his Whispering Oaks Court trailer on May 15, 2012 in what police have said was a botched drug deal. Police say the two had been fighting before the shooting.

State District Judge George Larke announced that the jury could not find enough evidence to render a verdict after about two hours of deliberation on Thursday.
