LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles police have shot and killed a man they say attacked officers with a metal builder’s level.

Police went to a Van Nuys neighborhood around 11:30 p.m. Thursday to answer a 911 call about a dispute between neighbors.

Sgt. Barry Montgomery tells KABC-TV that the officers were directed to a home and confronted a 30-year-old man who struck at least one of them in the head and shoulders with a hard object - later determined to be a 4-foot-long builder’s level.

The man was shot and killed. His name hasn’t been released.

Police say two officers were treated for minor to moderate injuries.
