NEWBURGH, N.Y. (AP) - A 27-year-old man has pleaded guilty to beating another man to death with a pipe outside a Hudson Valley bar and restaurant.

Alvaro Ramos-Lopez pleaded guilty in Orange County Court on Thursday to second-degree murder in the death of 40-year-old Armando Soriano-Martel. Prosecutors say he bludgeoned Soriano-Martel on April 3 outside the Rey Del Pollo Bar and Restaurant in the city of Newburgh.

Soriano-Martel, a native of Honduras, later died at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports (https://bit.ly/1F2RVgc ) Ramos-Lopez is set to be sentenced on Oct. 1.

Second-degree murder carries a maximum sentence of 25 years to life and a minimum of 15 years to life.
