BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota has agreed to pay $58,000 in legal fees and costs associated with a federal lawsuit that challenged the state’s ban on same-sex marriage.

Court documents show that nearly $7,000 will be paid to the National Center for Lesbian Rights. The remainder will be split by lawyers who represented the plaintiffs.

The lawsuit was thrown out shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court legalized gay marriage in all 50 states.
