LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say the deaths of a couple are being investigated as a murder-suicide in suburban Atlanta.

Local media reports that 51-year-old Lucio Jimenez and 43-year-old Paula Gonzalez were found dead and three of their children alive inside their home in Gwinnett County early Friday morning.

Police spokesman Cpl. Deon Washington says Gonzalez fired shots at Jimenez then she turned the handgun on herself and committed suicide. Washington says the daughter sustained a superficial gunshot wound.

The daughter was taken to a hospital. Washington says the ages of the children are 8, 14 and 16.

Washington says the children told detectives their parents were involved in a physical altercation before the shooting.

Washington says the children are with family members and the Division of Family and Children Services is involved in the investigation.
