ALBERTVILLE, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota State Patrol says a four-car pileup near the exit to an outlet mall has killed a Canadian woman and injured four other people.

The crash happened about 1:30 p.m. Saturday on eastbound Interstate 94 near the exit to Albertville Premium Outlets. The Star Tribune (https://strib.mn/1fPlH1u ) reports the crash was triggered by a rear-end collision involving slowing traffic.

Killed was a passenger in a Hyundai Elantra, identified as 38-year-old Erin Bateman of Manitoba. The patrol says Bateman was the only person not wearing a seat belt among the eight people in the four cars. Her hometown was not known.

A 10-year-old girl, also from Manitoba, was seriously hurt and taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
