LORAIN, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say the cause of a house fire that killed a man in northeast Ohio appears to be suspicious.

A supervisor with the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office provided few details regarding the investigation of the fire Tuesday morning fire in Brighton Township, about 45 miles southwest of Cleveland. Lt. Heath Tester says a man in his early 40s was found dead inside a bedroom of the home where he lived alone.

Tester says detectives are awaiting a ruling from the county coroner about the cause of death. Tester says “definite signs of foul play” were found at the scene, but he wouldn’t elaborate.
