SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Authorities in Northern California say the body of a San Francisco teacher who has been missing for 19 days may have been found.

El Dorado County Sheriff’s Lt. Tom Murdoch says authorities received a call from a member of the family’s search team saying a motorcycle matching the description of Edward Cavanaugh’s motorcycle was found Tuesday morning. A body was found nearby.

Murdoch says the body hasn’t been positively identified. He says the teacher’s family has been informed of the discovery.

Cavanaugh was last seen July 17 driving a motorcycle on a trail through El Dorado County, about three hours east of the San Francisco Bay Area. He was with another driver before cruising off on his own.

The California National Guard used a drone and the family recruited the help of ultra-marathoners to search for the 45-year-old man in Eldorado National Forest.
