NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) - An arrest warrant has been issued for a Lincoln County man accused of dragging a dog behind his pickup.

The Oregonian reports (https://is.gd/gEDp95 ) that a probable cause affidavit filed in Lincoln County Circuit Court says the incident happened in April, and the 1-year-old female Australian shepherd named Dixie was euthanized because of her injuries.

The sheriff’s office says the 21-year-old driver - Tommy Larson - remains at-large. The warrant issued last week accuses him of animal abuse and animal neglect.

The caller who reported the incident told dispatchers the pickup dragged a dog for at least two miles on a road in Waldport before the rope broke.

The license plate led police to Larson, who was interviewed two days later.

Larson told police he tied Dixie to the bed of his pickup with twine, and later noticed she was gone.
