SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - A reputed Orange County gang member who was shot and wounded by Santa Ana police has been charged with being a felon in possession of a gun.

Orange County prosecutors say 24-year-old Armando Antunez (ann-TOON’-yez) was also charged Tuesday with other gun-related crimes.

He’s already on probation for having a concealed weapon and faces up to 19 years in state prison if convicted.

There’s no word on whether he has a lawyer.

Police say Antunez was shot Sunday when officers tried to contact gang members they saw loitering in an area that’s under a gang injunction.

Authorities say Antunez - who wasn’t named in the injunction - was wounded during a chase and had a handgun.

He was treated at a hospital.
