PHOENIX (AP) - A man booked into the Phoenix jail on a probation violation was someone wanted by the FBI for a murder and dismemberment on the Navajo Nation last year.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s officials say Devan E. Leonard also is wanted by federal authorities for a 2014 drive-by shooting.

They say Leandro Sanchez Ramirez was arrested last week and booked into the downtown 4th Avenue Jail on a probation violation.

An MCSO fingerprint technician ran his prints and noticed that nobody by that name had a criminal record so Ramirez shouldn’t be on probation.

The technician sent the fingerprints to the FBI, which quickly determined Ramirez was really Leonard.

A federal warrant says Leonard was wanted by the FBI for a drive-by shooting in February 2014 and a murder/dismemberment 10 months later.
