LATROBE, Pa. (AP) - Spirit Airlines plans to discontinue nonstop flights from Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in southwestern Pennsylvania to Chicago and Las Vegas effective Nov. 12.

Spokesman Paul Berry told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (https://bit.ly/1VYYJ9l ) on Monday that the flights from the Westmoreland County airport didn’t catch on as they hoped. Daily flights to Chicago and Las Vegas started earlier this year.

Airline officials made the decision after reviewing ticket sales and trying to drum up interest in the flights.

Berry says the “handful” of customers who bought tickets for flights after Nov. 12 will be contacted to make other travel arrangements.

Despite the changes, Berry said the airline remains “committed to Latrobe.”
