GAHANNA, Ohio (AP) - Police have arrested a man suspected of setting a woman on fire behind a central Ohio gas station, leaving her in critical condition.

Gahanna (guh-HAN’-uh) officials say police in the Columbus suburb responded Sunday to a report of a woman on fire and found her and a 40-year-old man who also had burns.

A city statement says both were taken to a hospital. Investigators say they’ve determined the man poured gasoline or another ignitable liquid on the woman and set her on fire.

The city says the man, identified as Michael Slager, was arrested Monday on charges of aggravated arson and felonious assault. He was in jail with no available attorney information.

The woman wasn’t publicly identified. She remained in critical condition Tuesday.
