PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A middle school principal is facing felony charges after a screener at T.F. Green Airport allegedly found cocaine in his luggage.

A spokeswoman for the Rhode Island Airport Corporation told WPRO-AM (https://bit.ly/1UlF5CD) on Tuesday that an officer with the Transportation Security Administration was monitoring checked baggage on Aug. 1 and noticed an anomaly.

Police say they discovered cocaine in the bag belonging to 41-year-old Anthony Corrente of Warwick.

Corrente, who is the principal of Western Hills Middle School in Cranston, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. The school district says Corrente has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.

It’s unclear whether Corrente is represented by an attorney. A message seeking comment was left Tuesday at a phone listing for Corrente.
