LAS VEGAS (AP) - Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald is in Nevada touring a solar company facility before addressing a Purple Heart convention in Las Vegas.

The head of the Department of Veterans Affairs will visit the SolarCity warehouse in North Las Vegas Tuesday afternoon to hear about its initiative to power 120,000 military homes.

The company, which has hired many veterans into jobs, said its program to create up to 300 megawatts of solar generation capacity will be among the largest residential solar projects in the country.

McDonald is also scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Military Order of the Purple Heart convention Tuesday evening at the JW Marriott hotel in Las Vegas.
