OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a Contra Costa County district attorney inspector has shot a warrant suspect after trying to arrest the man in Oakland.

The Contra Costa Times reports (https://bayareane.ws/1JKgswt ) that the 28-year-old, who is wanted for property crimes, is expected to recover from his wounds. The man’s name has not been released.

Authorities say two inspectors had followed the man to the Hilton Oakland Airport Hotel where he had apparently been staying. When the two inspectors tried to arrest him, the man pulled out a pistol.

One of the inspectors then shot the suspect.

The man was taken to a hospital where he was in critical but stable condition. Neither inspector was injured.

The shooting is being investigated by Oakland police.
