MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - Officials in Mineral County say a Washington state man drowned after a canoeing accident on the Clark Fork River in western Montana

The coroner’s office said 46-year-old Shane Dearden died Sunday near Alberton Gorge. His cause of death was released Tuesday after an autopsy.

The Missoulian reports (https://bit.ly/1hi9e7P ) Dearden was on the second day of a five-day canoe trip with his sons’ Boy Scout troop when his canoe overturned in a rapid. Others on the water brought him to shore and attempted CPR but he was pronounced him dead at the scene.
