MANNINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Two people have been flown to separate hospitals following two separate accidents during the demolition derby at the Mannington District Fair.

Multiple media outlets report that two drivers suffered serious injuries in separate incidents on Tuesday night.

Marion County Emergency Medical Services responder Brandon Johnson says a derby car caught fire and the driver was trapped in the car, but responders were able to extract him from the vehicle. The driver was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital for serious burns from the crash.

Johnson says another driver was later injured after he became trapped in his car. He was transported to a Morgantown hospital with possible spinal and shoulder injuries.

As of early Wednesday morning, officials have not released the names or conditions of either driver.
