CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - One inmate is hospitalized and six others were treated for minor injuries after a fight broke out at a Carson City prison.

The Nevada Department of Corrections said inmates were having dinner in the Warm Springs Correctional Center dining room Tuesday evening when two inmates started to fight.

Officials say guards ordered the inmates to stop before firing a blank and then three rubber pellet rounds.

One of the inmates was transported by helicopter to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno for wounds from the rubber pellets, and remained there Wednesday.

Six other inmates were treated by prison medical staff for minor wounds and were returned to their cells.

The corrections department’s Office of the Inspector General is investigating the incident.
