CLAREMONT, N.H. (AP) - Police say eight people have been arrested in connection with drug use in Claremont.

Authorities say the operation was conducted by Claremont police and the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Drug Task Force in response to a recent increase in crimes related to heroin and other drug use. They said police in both Sullivan and Cheshire counties are seeing more property crimes and crimes against people stemming from the growing heroin and prescription drug epidemic.

They said most of the people arrested Friday are facing a charge of possessing controlled drugs. They said heroin and other drugs were seized.
