MOONACHIE, N.J. (AP) - The head of the recently reconfigured New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority has vowed to work with business leaders to aggressively promote tourism and attract big events to the Meadowlands.

The Record reports (https://bit.ly/1g6z65D ) Wayne Hasenbalg, the Sports Authority’s president and CEO, told attendees at a business breakfast Tuesday that the agency has established a new marketing and communications unit to help draw visitors to the northern New Jersey region.

The agency is working with the Meadowlands Chamber of Commerce to submit bids to bring marquee events along the lines of the Super Bowl and Wrestlemania to the area. Both events were held at MetLife Stadium in recent years.

Hasenbalg says the agency is currently in the process of reviewing a bid for an undisclosed “very big event.”
