WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - Authorities in Black Hawk County say a sheriff’s deputy has been killed in a motorcycle crash.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office says Deputy Tim Petersen was riding a motorcycle Tuesday when it collided with an SUV in Waterloo.

The driver of the SUV says she didn’t see the motorcycle. She was cited for driving with a suspended license and a stop sign violation.

Petersen was taken to a hospital and later died from his injuries. Authorities say funeral arrangements are being finalized.
