GEORGETOWN, Calif. (AP) - Authorities believe a body found in a remote area of El Dorado County may be that of a San Francisco teacher missing since he left for a backwoods motorcycle trip July 17.

A member of a search team assisting the family of Edward Cavanaugh reported Tuesday that a motorcycle matching the description of the one Cavanaugh had been riding was located along with a body. The discovery was made in heavy brush away from off-roading trails.

The coroner’s office will try to identify the body.

The 45-year-old was last seen on the Rock Creek trail system with another rider before splitting off on his own.

Volunteers combed the area about 3 hours east of San Francisco by foot, car and helicopter.
