OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The death in May of an 11-year-old boy who had been hospitalized since suffering traumatic brain injuries in 2005 has been ruled a homicide.

The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office says in an autopsy report that Blake Johnson died May 18 of acute bronchopneumonia that was due to the brain injury that was the result of blunt force injuries to the head.

The child had been hospitalized since January 2005 when he was found injured in Oklahoma City.

His father is serving life in prison after pleading guilty to child neglect in the case and his mother was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to permitting child abuse. Online prison records show the mother is due for a parole hearing in February.
