KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) - Authorities are evacuating homes as a fire burns in Evergreen.

Flathead County Undersheriff Dave Leib tells the Flathead Beacon that five structures have burned in Wednesday’s grass fire.

The Daily Inter Lake reports that at least one of the damaged structures is a home.

Firefighters are attempting to prevent the flames from spreading to other houses and a helicopter is dropping water on the blaze.

The cause was not immediately clear.

Evergreen is a small community about four miles northeast of Kalispell.
