GLEN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Good weather is helping crews restore power to thousands of Michigan homes and businesses still without electricity following severe weekend storms.

Consumers Energy says about 19,000 customers lacked service around midday Wednesday after more than 170,000 of its customers lost power. In Leelanau, Grand Traverse and Ogemaw counties, complete restoration is expected Thursday.

The utility says some crews that wrapped up work in Michigan’s southern Lower Peninsula are now working in northern Michigan.

The public is invited to a performance Thursday night by the Celtic music group Blackthorn at The Homestead in hard-hit Leelanau County. Organizers will pass the hat to raise money for people trying to recover.
