CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The head of the Ralph Johnson Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Charleston is providing an update on the facility.

Scott Isaacks has been director of the center since last November, and on Wednesday, he meets with reporters to discuss what’s been taking place at the center during recent months.

Isaacks is discussing such things as the center’s budget, its programs for homeless veterans, construction projects and the medical center’s rating.

Last December, the center opened a new $10 million mental health research center.

The VA medical center provides primary and mental health care for more than 63,000 veterans along the South Carolina and Georgia coasts
