DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A 19-year-old man has been arrested in the fatal stabbing of a 27-year-old man in Des Moines.

According to authorities, the suspect was arrested Tuesday for the slaying of Timothy Washington. A Des Moines police news release says Washington was stabbed June 21 after a fight broke out at a party on the city’s east side and spilled into a street.

Washington and a 23-year-old man, who was also stabbed, were taken to a local hospital where Washington was pronounced dead.

The suspect is being held in the Polk County Jail on bond of $1 million. He faces a first-degree murder charge.
