ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta’s mayor plans to visit a church-owned apartment building for low-income residents, who say it continues to be unbearably hot.

CBS 46 reports (https://bit.ly/1JLBL0w ) that Mayor Kasim Reed plans to tour the building on Wednesday.

Residents say the sweltering heat inside is continuing, despite assurances from the building’s managers that the air conditioning has been fixed.

Residents have pleaded with Friendship Baptist Church, which owns the building, to fix what tenants said was a faulty air conditioning system that allowed temperatures inside to soar.

The Associated Press’ phone calls and emails to church officials have not been returned.
