TRENTON, Tenn. (AP) - The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office has received mixed reactions from people about a new decal that has been added to some of their patrol cars.

The Jackson Sun reports (https://bit.ly/1W1gCUU) that Sheriff Paul Thomas says he decided to have the decal that reads “One Nation Under God” put on two patrol cars. Thomas says he wanted to do something to bring people together and wasn’t trying to force his beliefs on anyone.

On Monday, a photo of the sticker was posted to the sheriff’s office Facebook page.

Thomas says some people have messaged him that they didn’t support the decal or that they thought the sticker violated a separation of church and state.

Thomas says some deputies have asked to have the decal added to their patrol cars.
