CAMPBELLTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a New Jersey man shot and killed by Pennsylvania police who said he opened fire on officers after stealing weapons from a gun shop.

The Lebanon County coroner’s office said 18-year-old Joshua Malave, a recent Cinnnaminson High School graduate, was the suspect killed in Campbelltown.

District Attorney David Arnold says the officers exchanged gunfire with the man Monday morning in a soybean field near the Horseshoe Pike Gun Shop.

Arnold says the South Londonderry officers responded to the burglary in progress and chased the man into the field. Arnold says the man was heavily armed with stolen guns.

The officers were not hurt. Campbelltown is about 15 miles east of Harrisburg.
