SAN DIEGO (AP) - The San Diego City Council has agreed to pay nearly $1 million to two women who say they were sexually abused by a former police officer.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1KPX7vf ) that the council voted Tuesday to pay one woman $550,000 for when she says Officer Christopher Hays groped her repeatedly during a lawsuit. The other woman will receive $400,000 for when she says Hays exposed himself to her and touched himself.

The council voted in March to pay $1.3 million to two other women who sued the city for encounters with Hays.

Hays was briefly jailed after pleading guilty to false imprisonment and assault under color of authority.
